Edith inspires by transforming her health and wellbeing
At the age of 82, Edith decided to take charge of her health and transform her lifestyle. In February 2026, she entered the Eatwise programme with Wellbeing for Life (WBFL). After completing the programme, Edith had achieved significant weight loss which has had a major, positive impact on her daily life.
Edith joined Catherine Nicholson, Community Connector at WBFL, at the Crook Civic Centre. Here, 12 sessions of healthy weight support would take place, focusing on achieving Edith’s personal goals.
Eatwise is a 12-session programme where the practitioner and clients discuss practical, individually tailored advice and support. Each session covers a different topic with a focus on making long term healthy changes that last.
As the weeks went by, Edith’s work with Catherine showed through the small tweaks she made to her habits at home. Catherine said: “Her success wasn’t down to luck, but rather her wonderful attention to detail. Edith found meal tracking really useful, keeping a food diary that helped her stay mindful of her choices.”
Some of the key changes Edith made were significantly upping her vegetable intake and making sure she stayed hydrated throughout the day. “Two pillars of the Eatwise approach that she embraced wholeheartedly,” said Catherine.

It wasn’t just eating habits that played a key role in her transformation. Edith made sure to keep moving more, using her walker to stay mobile and active whenever she could. This change in physical activity is another key message of the Eatwise programme.
Through Catherine’s support and her own dedication – which Catherine says was “nothing short of remarkable” – Edith has lost an amazing three stone (42 pounds). Edith has shared that she is finding it much easier to move around and, most importantly, that she feels a renewed sense of energy and spirit.
“Edith has been a joy to have as a client,” Catherine said. “Her positive attitude and consistency have been an inspiration to all. It has been a privilege to watch her reach – and exceed – her goals. Well done, Edith! We are so proud of everything you have achieved.”
