Since joining the Stamp It Out (SIO) partnership network in 2020, the Pioneering Care Partnership (PCP) has played a vital role in supporting efforts to challenge mental health stigma across County Durham. Initially providing administrative support, PCP’s contribution evolved to include marketing, communications, and the delivery of bespoke training developed through the initiative.

As a committed partner, PCP helped shape the direction of SIO’s work, ensuring that lived experience and community voices remained central to its approach. One of the most significant achievements was PCP’s involvement in the collaborative research project, Exploring Barriers to Accessing Mental Health Support, conducted with Northumbria University and other partners. The findings were presented at SIO’s final event and highlighted the importance of social support in reducing self-stigma and improving psychological wellbeing.

Sandra Roberts, Governance and Development Manager at PCP, shared:

“It’s about creating safe spaces where people feel heard, valued and empowered to speak openly about their mental health. That’s what Stamp It Out does so well – and we’re proud to be part of that journey.”

Although the Stamp It Out programme has now formally concluded, PCP remains committed to continuing its legacy. The organisation plans to deliver the training developed through SIO and embed its messages into future work with communities across County Durham.
