Lived Experience

Pioneering Care Partnership is working with other partner organisations to support Community Health Transformation in County Durham (CMHT).

This is an approach to achieving change in the delivery of mental health services. The CMHT programme seeks to revolutionise how services are delivered, and key to this is empowering people to have greater choice and control over their care, and to live well in their communities.

PCP is leading on establishing Lived Experience structures within the County-wide system.

Our partners:

Durham County Council

UTASS

East Durham Trust

For transformation and service improvement to happen, engagement with those who have lived experience of mental ill-health is needed. This is to make sure that their voices are heard to help to inform and re-design service delivery.

Conversations with people with lived experience happen on a county wide basis and PCP is working with other voluntary sector partners to develop a lived experience lead team to cover specific local areas within the county.

Local leads are advocates for service users. Making sure the voice's of lived experience directly influences service design.

Each member of the team is keen to connect with individuals with lived experience, those who support individuals with lived experience, and organisations with shared interests within their designated areas.

Creating a safe space where people’s views about accessing services are listened to and heard.
