Cancer Champion Project
The Cancer Champion programme aims to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of common cancers and increase attendance at cancer screening services across County Durham.
To help achieve this we will be recruit a team of Cancer Champions from workplaces and the community across County Durham and provide training, so they feel comfortable talking to people about cancer. We will also work with members of the veteran's community.
We will focus on several cancer campaigns throughout the year, including skin, lung, breast, testicular and bowel, and Cancer Champions will be provided with information and resources to support their conversations.
Become a Cancer Champion
If you are interested in supporting this programme and becoming a Cancer Champion, we'd love to hear from you.
You will play a key role in promoting various campaigns throughout the year, using posters and digital platforms to share important information. In addition, you’ll be there to signpost individuals who may come to you with concerns about cancer. This could involve signposting them to a GP or connecting them with a support group.
Our Cancer Champion Officer will be there to support you throughout each campaign.
