Wellbeing for Life Team preapre to tackle 3 Peaks for PCP 'Dive In!' Campaign

PCP and County & Darlington Foundation Trust Wellbeing for Life team are taking on their biggest challenge yet to raise money for PCP’s Hydrotherapy Pool campaign ‘Dive In!’ 14 eager, fitness fanatics are aim to complete the Yorkshire 3 peaks challenge Saturday, 8 June.
PCP’s hydrotherapy pool is now 20 years old and requires a complete needs a refurbishment. It is a well-used and sees thousands of service users every year to help with a wide range of individuals of all ages. For those with a physical disability, hydrotherapy offers an opportunity for independent activity in a warm, safe and supportive environment. Hydrotherapy also supports improved mental-wellbeing and is used for therapeutic rehabilitation.
Donna Kelly, Senior Wellbeing Practitioner of Wellbeing for Life, floated the idea with her colleagues, earlier this year and 13 eager staff members jumped on board. Preparations have already started and a number of various different walks and climbs, have been planned in. So far, the group have completed Hellvelyn and Pen-y-gent.
Donna said: “I think this is going to be a lot harder than we all thought! But we are so prepared and excited to do this. We all support each other so much and make each other laugh even when we’re struggling for breath! It’ll be a massive accomplishment for all of us, we can’t wait!”
“Our plans aren’t set in stone yet but we are looking at camping on the Friday & Saturday. There are talks going on at the moment, we just need to make sure we take everyone’s health into consideration.”
This determined team of fundraisers are also planning an 8 hour static cycle. This will be taking place in the Pioneering Care Centre on Wednesday, 29 May to further raise the profile of the ‘Dive In’ Campaign. Each Wellbeing for Life team member that takes part will donate money to jump on the static bike for as long as they can. The team are hoping to complete a total distance of 50 miles over the 8 hour period hoping and are hoping people will support and encourage them by donating.
