Since retiring as a police inspector, George has become increasingly involved in the community and voluntary sector. George, who specialised in accident investigation and project management, has completed an NVQ Level 2 course in managing community groups and health promotion. He has a diploma in supervisory management and has also undertaken the role of chairman at a Social Resource Centre. In addition to this George has been involved with Durham County Council's Education Appeals Panel.
