Agnes began her nursing career as a cadet in 1956, completing general nursing training at Darlington Memorial Hospital and midwifery training at Harrogate and Greenbank Hospitals. Agnes worked at Dryburn and Bishop Auckland Hospitals and was the community midwife for Spennymoor and the surrounding district until she retired in 1999.
Agnes is extremely passionate about education and serves on the board of Bishop Auckland College and three governing bodies in Spennymoor. As the former leader of Sedgefield Borough Council, Agnes enjoyed working closely with the community and public services.
